THIS IS THE WAY (T.I.T.W.)

Inspired by the devout complex of the Star Wars Character 'The Mandalorian', this song is an exhortation on values, commitment, responsibility, morality and honour. The world has enough history in it to furnish us with enough knowledge of how we shouldn't act and also how we should act. This song is about how we should act.

Escorial

The volcano is an unpredictable, destructive and transformative force. A river of lava burns everything in its path, but creates and nourishes a soil where there was nothing. ESCORIAL is a sound design piece composed from audio samples taken at the foot of the Llaima volcano (Patagonia - Chile) and the interview with Patsy Milena (visual artist from Melipeuco, the town at the foot of the volcano). The natural poetry of these sounds bears the memory that “we are part of life cycles” and that change is the only possible driving force.

Sunbeam

This song presents itself as a deeply poetic exploration into the boundless expanses of dreams and the power of imagination. It emphasizes, with great conviction, the profound freedom that can be discovered in the ethereal world of dreams, and the optimism that naturally emanates from this freedom. It uses evocative, vivid imagery to draw a parallel between these expressions of freedom and optimism and the comforting warmth and vibrant brightness of sunbeams, creating a powerful metaphor that resonates with the listener.

Bila

This song evokes the fact that everyday, human being is confronted with daily battles: to seek something to live, to preserve his health as much as possible, to protect his mind against the trials of life, in short, to live in eternal conflict with the blows of life in order to stay alive as long as possible.

Make Love Not Sense

A conflict between two states of mind can happen between two people with different points of view or two countries with different strategies. This song calls for a fair solution by accepting each other's differences and enjoying the simple pleasures of life, after all we are only different shades of each other. The song is arranged in a way to reveal those different points of view of the same melody. We tried to find a common ground between the Lebanese melody and the Argentinian groove while adding some spices from here and there.

With You We Pray

The first title for this project while the first sounds and pulses were emerging was Mantra. Trying to draw inspiration from the proposed theme "conflict", it was very naturally that it turned into a prayer. A prayer that proposes to be recited and reverberated in unison, in canon, in spoken word, here with reference to the great Uruguayan thinker, Eduardo Galeano, and in all the musical formulas that human nature reaches, so that it may illuminate the paths of all beings that depart their countries with nothing, fighting for their own survival. Patterns of war repeated for millennia. Homelands, Cultures, families, animals, gardens, houses, languages and everything else must be left apart, seeking refuge in the neighboring country, without having guaranteed an "open door". If we insist on keeping the path cut off, we will be accomplices not only to premature deaths, but also to our own. Deeply grateful dear companions Raushan, Juan and Giovanni, for such inspiration, trust and above all, for praying together with me.

Iternal conflicts are lived and felt deeply inside and are also projected outside. We think that those crosses are not created by anyone tangible, their appearance means that we have to live and go through them to be one step ahead and face the limits that we have. Structures hurt and annoy, but crossroads give you the opportunity to move and see a little more the beliefs we have about ourselves and our life. And that's what "Crossway" is talking about.

Seize The Day

‘Seize The Day’, written during lockdown by actor and musician Greg Wise, is sung by Heather Ella Rose with backing vocals by Marshall Muze, Bass by Neipesmit, piano by Juan Barallobres and produced by Lucas Avellina. This song is about the importance of appreciating and loving life, even when the day or the time you’re in is hard. It’s a folk type song that starts out small, but widens out to take in the change we are now facing - a whole new ordering of things - social injustice, the financial system, and the state of our planet.

Rise Up

Rise up' is about walking the line between hope and despair for our planet. It is a story-song written about a person who has everything, but who struggles to enjoy happiness knowing how much suffering there is in the world. Ultimately the song represents the journey that anyone of conscience must make on a planet in turmoil, asking ‘how can I feel happy, when others are not free’. But the song still holds hope, as ‘love finds a way through the dark nights’, finally saying ‘you must be the change you seek, you must cease the war in you’.

World Made of Sand

World Made of Sand' is an unusual hybrid with Hulgo, Juan and Heather, working on a Latin song composed by Hulgo, then worked on by the others in the collaboration. It's an uplifting, upbeat about what feels very much like transition times on our turbulent planet. As the lyrics say 'I see the dark clouds on the horizon, do you see them too, do you see the people running to the light, to the hope, the dreams'. It speaks of 'a world made of sand' and the rising and falling of empires but it is still a hopeful, joyful song.

´The things that matter’ has at its heart the quote by Martin Luther King; ‘the world begins to end the day we are silent about the things that matter’. As the song then goes on to say, ‘our hearts can only mend, the day that we speak up about the things that matter’. It is ‘a call to arms’ for social justice and transformation on our planet, and a sorrowful lament for all the victims of injustice. The song was first created by Heather with space in the verses for Marshall and Juan to produce.

NEW CREATION

A new creation’ is a song full of hope and love for the earth. It carries a profound faith in the possibility of transformation. Though the world is going through some tough times at the moment, we have a conviction that ‘out of the old comes the new’. Beyond our sorrow for the mess we’ve made of our beautiful planet, there is still time to transform to a new earth, ‘ a new creation’.

Bumpy Ride

This song is a response to the feeling of turmoil in the world. It is reflecting something so many people on earth are feeling right now; that we are on a rollercoaster of emotions, thoughts, and new and collapsing realities. It comes from the feeling that we must hold on tight and as the lyrics say; ‘Stand together so we don’t fall down’. It’s a bouncy song, like a wild ride, but it has a positive message of resilience and recovery. It’s an ode to survival, and to the human spirit of courage to overcome all things if we only work together.

This is a love song for life on earth. As the lyrics say; ‘We’re bound together like a thousand prayers’. It reminds us that love is the one truth and that we will find ‘ways to survive.’ The song was written when thinking about how we cannot change systems with the approaches that produced them, and about how this time is particularly challenging. The song proposes that if we all feel love for every element of life, from the beauty of nature, to our own sorrows and joys, for our diversity of people, it will ‘tune us up’ to be more holistic.

Pangea

“Pangea” is a song depicting a sense of wholeness. Referring to the hypothetical continent of the past, the song is a nostalgic remembrance of a time when the planet was a single landmass, before separation. Pangaea is a combination of nostalgic strings strung in a harmony of a natural gathering of sounds. Between old and new sounds, rhythms and melodies, and distant collaborations, Pangaea is a piece inspired by a sense of planetary oneness. A oneness of humanity and of earth, and the span of time that encapsulates their common narrative.

Eternity

This song is about love and death, and hope and fear. It’s about that space in between this life and the next. It’s a deep journey that represents the universal human experience of living with death and uncertain life, but with love as the force that gives us all coherence. The meaning in the song is heightened even more at this time with the global lockdown happening, and it aims to be a balm and a challenge to the spirit. As the lyrics say ‘Can you hear, can you feel, the coming of eternity, we must face it, face it, with love or fear’.

Nature Procession

The song was adapted from Khalil Gibran’s poetry collection "Al Mawakib - Processions". It attempts to contrast an aspect of our life on earth, bound by the base and the material with our eternal life "in the forests" of our spiritual identity. It serves as a reminder of who we really are and the necessity of seeking this greater truth. The song begins by describing how in this world we are ultimately part of a herd, being pushed to a world of deceit and concludes with a call to action of "Give me the flute, and sing."

Hands to Heal

A few years ago, Juan Barallobres was visiting Isla Maciel, a poor area in Buenos Aires. As he walked around, he saw a group of women working, taking heavy sand from the river to clean and sell to local builders. Juan recorded the sounds they were making with their hands. This affected him greatly and gave him the inspiration for the song. “Hands to heal” talks about women’s work, their struggle, and their energy worldwide. It’s a song about the way women tirelessly work to transform the hard things in their lives, to make them better.
